The right to freedom of expression is of great importance in a democratic country. It offers citizens the opportunity to criticize the government, obtain and disseminate information and participate in public debate. Freedom of expression also includes expressions that are experienced as offensive or shocking. However, there is no license to say everything. For example, it is forbidden to insult people or incite hatred. Ultimately, it is up to the judge to determine whether or not a particular expression falls under freedom of expression.
